Newman Center Presents in collaboration with the Lamont School of Music.
Eddy Marcano returns to the Newman Center after his exciting Newman Center Presents performance this summer with the YOA Orchestra of the Americas as part of the Denver Biennial of the Americas. A classically trained violinist and conductor, Marcano is a member of Venezuela’s famed Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar and has appeared on stages across the Americas and Europe. With his Trio Acústico he performs a vibrant repertoire of traditional Venezuelan folk music, filled with jazz improvisations and the demands of classical technique. The other members of the Cuarteto play guitar, bass, and cuatro, a small Venezuelan guitar. DU’s own famed guitarist Ricardo Iznaola, who recently issued a double CD of Venezuelan guitar music, will join the ensemble as a special guest.
