Learning to Hear Color
Featuring a live, interactive light and color performance created by DU Graduate Students
In conjunction with an exhibition at the University of Denver’s Vicki Myhren Gallery called “Learning to See Color,” explore the musical aspects of color. The Colorado Symphony will be joined by DU Graduate students Bailey Dunning and Travis Powell, who are pursuing degrees in the Emergent Digital Practices Program of the School of Art. They will give a live performance of light and color, interacting with the music.
The Colorado Symphony’s new assistant conductor Andres Lopera, and DU Art Professor and color expert Jeffrey Keith, will lead the program demonstrating that art created to be experienced through one sense, such as music, can also be perceived and experienced through other senses – colors can be heard.
The program includes music by Holst, Tchaikovsky, Marquez, Sibelius, Shostakovich and Brahms.
